Mountain village
Ares del Maestrat, also known as Ares del Maestre in Spanish or simply Ares, is a municipality in the province of Castelló in the Valencian Country. It is situated near the top of the Mola d'Ares mountain, at an elevation of 1,148 m.
As a result of migration to the cities in the 1960s and 1970s, Ares del Maestre is sparsely populated today, yet remains a popular tourist destination. Sites of interest include the gothic town hall, neoclassical parish church, and the remains of the Mola castle.
The Tossal d'Orenga mountain, popular among paragliders, is located within the Ares del Maestre municipal term.

What almost never fails in a village like Ares del Maestre.
From a wood-fired oven if you're lucky; ask what time the batch comes out.
There's almost always a cheesemaker nearby; the local shop will know which one.
From local beekeepers: wildflower or rosemary, depending on the hills.
Almost every village has its market day and its producers: the cheesemaker, the baker, the vegetable garden next door. Ask at the tourist office or the bar on the square; they'll tell you where to buy straight from the maker.
We haven't confirmed Ares del Maestre's market day. Every village has its own: better to ask than to make it up.
