Porcuna is a village and municipality in the province of Jaén in Andalusia, Spain, 42 km from Jaén and 50 km from Córdoba. The primary occupation of the 6,990 inhabitants is olive growing. The main tourist attractions are the tower of Boabdil, the Casa Piedra, the Paseo de Jesús and the various hermitages.
One of Porcuna's famous sons is the Baroque poet Juan del Valle y Caviedes, born here around 1645, who moved to Peru at an early age and wrote biting satirical works attacking the hypocrisy of the Colonial upper class society of Lima.

What people eat in Andalucía when they eat well.
Tomato, oil and bread, well chilled in summer; every household has its own touch.
From the Andalusian sierras, thinly hand-carved; order the tapa with your wine.
A good share of the world's extra virgin olive oil is made here, and breakfast is bread with it.
Flour, clean oil and a quick fry; a coastal custom that climbs to the sierra.
Almost every village has its market day and its producers: the cheesemaker, the baker, the vegetable garden next door. Ask at the tourist office or the bar on the square; they'll tell you where to buy straight from the maker.
We haven't confirmed Porcuna's market day. Every village has its own: better to ask than to make it up.
