Village
Ricote is a Spanish municipality in the autonomous community of Murcia. It has a population of 1,509 (2004) and an area of 87.7 km2.
Ricote had a community of Moriscos until their expulsion from Spain in 1609. Govert Westerveld and Francisco Márquez Villanueva believe that the name of the Morisco character Ricote in Don Quixote is derived from the village. The Muslim philosopher Ibn Sab'in (1217-1271) is said to be descended from a family originally from Ricote.

What almost never fails in a village like Ricote.
From a wood-fired oven if you're lucky; ask what time the batch comes out.
There's almost always a cheesemaker nearby; the local shop will know which one.
From local beekeepers: wildflower or rosemary, depending on the hills.
Almost every village has its market day and its producers: the cheesemaker, the baker, the vegetable garden next door. Ask at the tourist office or the bar on the square; they'll tell you where to buy straight from the maker.
We haven't confirmed Ricote's market day. Every village has its own: better to ask than to make it up.
