Santa Fe is a Spanish municipality in the province of Granada, situated in the Vega de Granada, irrigated by the river Genil. The town was originally built by the Catholic armies besieging Granada (c. 1490-1492) after a fire destroyed much of their encampment. The Capitulations of Santa Fe between Columbus and the Catholic Monarchs were signed there shortly after the fall of Granada (2 January 1492) on 17 April 1492, and the city therefore advertises itself as "the cradle of hispanicity".
The municipality is jointly-eponymous with Santa Fe, New Mexico, in the United States. Both cities feature a castle, lion, and the Spanish imperial eagle on their official seals and flags.

What people eat in Andalucía when they eat well.
Tomato, oil and bread, well chilled in summer; every household has its own touch.
From the Andalusian sierras, thinly hand-carved; order the tapa with your wine.
A good share of the world's extra virgin olive oil is made here, and breakfast is bread with it.
Flour, clean oil and a quick fry; a coastal custom that climbs to the sierra.
Almost every village has its market day and its producers: the cheesemaker, the baker, the vegetable garden next door. Ask at the tourist office or the bar on the square; they'll tell you where to buy straight from the maker.
We haven't confirmed Santa Fe's market day. Every village has its own: better to ask than to make it up.
