What people eat in La Rioja when they eat well.
With chorizo and paprika, broken by hand to thicken the broth; a cellar dish.
Lamb grilled over vine shoots, a harvest-time custom.
Spain's oldest designation of origin; ask about the family wineries.
Wood-roasted and hand-peeled, from the Ebro market gardens.
Almost every village has its market day and its producers: the cheesemaker, the baker, the vegetable garden next door. Ask at the tourist office or the bar on the square; they'll tell you where to buy straight from the maker.
We haven't confirmed Viniegra de Abajo's market day. Every village has its own: better to ask than to make it up.
